Walking Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela for Year 7

Last weekend, our year 7 students said goodbye to the school year 2016/2017 with an exciting school trip to walk a stretch of the Camino de Santiago. The aim of this trip is to contribute to the transmission of the Camino cultural value. It is important to raise awareness among our students on the importance of protecting and preserving the extraordinary cultural, ecological and inherited legacy that defines the Camino.

Along the way, our Year 7 students strolled around old Lugo. They saw the Roman Walls, the Celtic Village “Castro de Viladonga”, the Pilgrims hospital in Melide and its 12th-century church, and San Paio de Narla castle, in Friol.

On the last day, the students covered the distance from O Pedrouzo to Plaza del Obradoiro. There, they visited the cathedral and its rooftops, as well as the most emblematic streets in Santiago de Compostela. After accomplishing their feat, our students returned to Vigo.
