Trip to Gorey, Ireland

One again, it was time for the annual trip for Year 6 students to Gorey, Ireland. This week trip is part of the activities organised within the 2016 School Integration Week. During their stay in Ireland, our students attended class in Bunscoill Loreto Primary School, a school located in a town called Gorey, which allowed them to personally experience the Irish culture and education, as well as learn about Irish music and dance, disciplines of great importance at this school.

In addition to the academic content of the trip, our students took the opportunity to learn about and visit the most iconic places in Dublin: Wexford; Avoca Mill, which is the oldest mill in the country; churches such as St. Kevins Church and its tower; Ferns Castle and the Irish National Heritage Park, where they were able to contemplate the beauty of the Irish landscape. There was also time for leisure in Courtown, where our students went to the beach, bowling, ice-skating, swimming and played mini-golf.

It was an enriching experience that has undoubtedly immensely benefited our students, not only because of the learning opportunities and the chance to experience a different culture, but also for the unique opportunity to discover themselves in a place and context that is unfamiliar.
