Discovering horse-riding as a competition sport

The Primary Stage students from O Castro British School went last week on a very entertaining and instructive trips to the El Alazán Equestrian Club – San Cosme School, where they could know first-hand what horse riding as a competition sport is like.

They enjoyed some very interesting days, in which they did many activities, such as the basic care of horses, how to keep them clean, brushed and fed, as well as riding a pony and play the pony games in the club.

But the most interesting part of the visit was to discover how much hard work, care and effort the activity implied, mainly when it came to hurdle and competition horses. They learnt about the different ways of transport, the training sets such as the walker or the horse threadmil, the barns and the different learning methods used. Plus, they enjoyed an amazing hurdle competition!
